About The Position

Mobile HVAC/Maintenance Engineer- Jackson, MS Malace|HR is seeking an experienced Mobile HVAC/Maintenance Engineer in the Des Moines, IA area. The role will be working 1st shift hours and pays $31-34 per hour. The HVAC Maintenance Mechanic supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. Assists in maintenance and repair efforts, as well as independently performing defined tasks. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc. Coverage Area: Multiple facilities within a 30-mile radius of Jackson, MS Compensation & Employment Type Contract role with planned conversion to full-time Target FTE hourly rate: $34 - $36 per hour Schedule Monday–Friday | 1st Shift Occasional overtime may be available if needed What’s Provided Company van Tablet and mobile phone P-card and gas card Uniforms and tools CMMS access Online training during Week 1 Additional Details Minimal windshield time: assignments are targeted within a 30-mile radius supporting multiple sites in your local area. Key Responsibilities Operate, maintain, monitor, and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, fire/life safety, furniture, and control systems across multiple facilities. Travel between assigned sites to ensure building systems are functioning properly and maintained to applicable standards. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing components to optimize HVAC and associated equipment performance. Record system readings, analyze performance data, and make adjustments as needed to ensure proper operation. Manage facility services, including preventive maintenance programs, inventory control, purchasing, and coordination of contracted maintenance. Monitor the quality, scope, and pricing of work performed by external contractors. Maintain compliance with all safety policies, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; identify safety risks and recommend corrective actions. Conduct periodic inspections of tools and instrumentation to ensure readiness and accuracy. Requirements

  • Strong HVAC and electrical skills (approximately 90% of the role).
  • Basic plumbing and general maintenance skills.
  • Several years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
  • Proven ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC system issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • EPA Universal Certification
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of trade school or technical education in electrical systems, refrigeration, or HVAC preferred.
