About The Position

The Mobile Crisis Licensed Responder will work alongside Mobile Crisis Responders and Peers and is primarily responsible for conducting clinical assessments and providing crisis intervention services. The Licensed Responder will respond to individuals in crisis telephonically or in-person, or via telehealth as needed. Additional follow-up services may be provided depending on the level of need. This is a per diem position with flexible scheduling options. Available shifts are as follows: Weekdays, 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM Weekends and holidays, 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM

Requirements

  • Licensed or permitted in New York State as one of the following: LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Licensed Behavioral Analyst, Physician, including Psychiatrist and Addictionologist/Addiction Specialist, Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Psychoanalyst, Occupational Therapist who meets the qualifications set forth in 42 C.F.R. 440.110(b)(2).
  • Two (2) years post-graduate mental health experience, including relevant experience providing crisis intervention support, transitional support, and care coordination.
  • Must demonstrate competence in de-escalation and aggression management.
  • Must be willing to participate in all required federal, state, county and agency training including Narcan administration, evidence-based assessments, person-centered and trauma-informed approaches.

  • Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to determine the need for further evaluation.
  • Provide psychotherapy and psychosocial rehabilitation counseling services to remediate psychiatric or substance use symptoms, resolve conflict, deescalate crises, monitor for and address high-risk behaviors, maintain stabilization following a crisis episode, and prevent escalation of behavioral health symptoms.
  • Make treatment recommendations and referral to other behavioral health services as clinically indicated.
  • Respond to adults and youth in crisis telephonically, or in-person as part of a two (2) person response team.
  • Provide and perform clinical assessment and referrals to community-based programs when necessary
  • Utilize diagnostic and assessment information to effectively perform crisis intervention
  • Make competent decisions about the need for an emergency petition and/or alternative psychiatric evaluation.
  • Provide accurate clinical information to family and involved persons related to recommendations and possibilities for treatment.
  • Maintain effective professional relationships with other service providers and community organizations in the interest of clients’ and program goals.
  • Provide mental health expertise when consulting and collaborating with law enforcement and EMS.
  • Participate in and complete all required training.
  • Carry out agency policies and procedures.
  • Complete all necessary written reports, statistics, case files, and summaries in a timely manner and in accordance with program and agency standards.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and related tasks as assigned
