About The Position

The Mobile Calibration Technician delivers on-site calibration and service to customers using a company-provided service van. This is a field-based role that combines advanced technical skills with strong customer interaction, independent scheduling, and business development. The technician works autonomously at customer locations to diagnose issues, perform complex calibrations, provide service recommendations, and represent ICS professionally. The ideal candidate will also be able to identify additional customer support opportunities while on site and help drive company growth.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and proficiency with electronic measurement equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort interacting with customers on-site.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and work in varied environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in metrology, calibration, electronics, or a related technical field.
  • Previous field service or mobile service experience.
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 calibration processes.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify sales opportunities and discuss service needs with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently from a company service van to provide on-site calibration, troubleshooting, and certification of equipment at customer locations.
  • Perform accurate calibrations, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical test and measurement equipment.
  • Complete all work and documentation with a focus on quality, accuracy, and efficiency; all work must comply with ICS quality requirements, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, ISO/IEC 17025, and NIST traceability standards.
  • Interact and build long-term rapport with customers while supporting equipment concerns and providing technical assistance on calibration needs.
  • Identify additional customer service opportunities while on site and communicate potential leads to the operations/sales team.
  • Coordinate frequently with internal operations but maintain autonomy in scheduling on-site work.
  • Provide support for operations and lab teams, when necessary.
  • Independently manage daily service routes, customer appointments, and time management.
  • Ensure the service van is clean and in safe operating condition and is organized/stocked with accurate inventory and tools.
  • Participate in continuous improvement – assist in the development of company procedures and individual training or self-study to maintain high technical proficiency.
