About The Position

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is seeking a skilled Mobile Application Developer to join its technology team on a contract basis. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing a complex business mobile application in collaboration with team leads, programmers, analysts, and project managers. The role involves analyzing requirements and building or enhancing applications to ensure they conform to established specifications. The position operates under general supervision, with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment. This is a hybrid role based in Austin, Texas, serving the technology needs of the agency.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience reviewing and interpreting system requirements.
  • 7 years of experience designing application layout and functionality.
  • 7 years of experience developing applications following Agile methodology and project timelines.
  • 7 years of experience performing developer testing for completed work.
  • 5 years of experience debugging and resolving reported application issues.
  • 5 years of extensive experience with .NET, C#, Xamarin, and knowledge of MAUI.
  • 5 years of experience using version control systems such as GitLab.
  • 5 years of experience working in a project team environment using Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • 5 years of experience testing to ensure basic and minimum accessibility and other existing standards are met.
  • 5 years of experience maintaining effective working relationships within a team environment.
  • 5 years of experience consuming REST service endpoints.
  • 3 years of experience writing SQL in industry -standard relational databases.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • 5 years of experience communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret system requirements to inform application design and development decisions.
  • Design application layout and functionality in accordance with project specifications.
  • Develop mobile applications following agile methodology and established project timelines.
  • Perform developer testing on completed work to verify conformance with requirements.
  • Debug and resolve reported application issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Write and execute SQL queries within industry -standard relational databases.
  • Consume REST service endpoints to support application functionality.
  • Use version control systems such as GitLab to manage source code throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Conduct testing to ensure applications meet accessibility standards and other applicable requirements.
  • Collaborate within a project team environment using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
