This job plans, organizes, manages and controls activities related to operating room inventory management. Manages the tracking of inventory under the OR service unit leadership from acquisition to use or disposal. Develops, implements, and monitors strategies for supply cost reduction and utilization management. Develops, implements and manages the Lawson inventory system for the OR. Manages the supply inventory within the Surgical Information System and maintains accurate and up to date inventory and billing procedures in SSI. Fosters and maintains an effective relationship between the surgical team and materials management division. Requirements

  • Education Required - High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Work Experience Required - 5 years of experience in an inventory management or customer focused role in healthcare materials management. OR 3 years’ experience in an inventory management or customer focused role in healthcare materials management with a bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge of operating room supplies/medical products and computerized inventory systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a pre-programmed database.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed and manage major projects with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work variable hours.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains an effective supply management system.
  • Provides effective management of processes for OR supply, inventory control and receiving.
  • Ensures proper implementation and maintenance of the Lawson Supply Management System as it pertains to the OR.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of the supply database and preference cards within SIS.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
