About The Position

Overview RiverView Health, is a community owned, membership based non-profit organization that was formed in 1898 and continues to be the sole community hospital in Crookston, MN. RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area. Responsibilities Medical Laboratory Scientist (PRN) Location: Crookston Lab Schedule: On call/ As needed Pay Range: $26.54 - $37.16/hr (based on experience) Job Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly, non-benefitted position The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) plays a vital role in supporting patient care by performing high-quality laboratory testing and analysis to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborates with other departments across the enterprise. The ideal candidate is self-directed, collaborative, and committed to maintaining accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing Follows standard operating procedures for MLS/MLTs Ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met Recognizes safety hazards and complies with all safety practices and protocols Collects and processes lab specimens with proper equipment Performs clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods Collect and manage samples of blood and other fluids from patients Qualifications Minimums: MLS - bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences or an associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent. Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 6 months of employment. Required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If not currently certified, RiverView will offer training which must be completed within 6 months of employment. Preferred(s): 2+ years’ healthcare experience in any field 1+ years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably in a generalist role across multiple disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.) 2+ years’ experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic or similar) Competencies: Collaboration and teamwork, supporting team goals and contributes positively. Commitment to quality improvement, safety standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., CLIA, COLA, CAP). Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work independently. Manages workload efficiently to meet productivity and quality targets.

Requirements
