About The Position

The Mission Systems IT Administrator sits at the intersection of engineering, security, and operations, supporting engineers as they operate vehicles and manage data flows for space products. This role includes day-to-day IT support while helping maintain NIST 800-171 compliance, securing mission-critical systems, and ensuring engineers remain productive. This is a hands-on position requiring support across deskside services, servers, networks, voice systems, and security controls. The role directly supports mission operations, including lunar landing, satellite, and lunar surface missions. The ideal candidate thrives in occasionally high-pressure environments, is self-directed, and demonstrates strong communication and troubleshooting abilities.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in IT administration, preferably in startup or high-demand environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Linux administration (command lineproficiencyrequired)
  • Windows Server environments and endpoint support
  • Windows 11 Enterprise endpoint support
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
  • Experience supporting technical users, such as engineering teams
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-171 or similar frameworks (e.g., CMMC, NIST CSF)
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated environments
  • Exposure to lab/test environments or mission-critical systems
  • Experience with:
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools such as Intune orJamf
  • SIEM and logging tools
  • Vulnerability management tools
  • Understanding of Zero Trust security concepts

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on deskside and end-user support for engineers, technicians, and staff across Windows and Linux environments
  • Troubleshoot hardware, operating systems, and application issues in real time
  • Support lab environments, test setups, and mission control/operations spaces
  • Manage mission workstations, including imaging and provisioning of systems
  • Administer Linux (Ubuntu/RHEL) and Windows Server environments
  • Coordinate and support system backups, patching, and monitoring activities
  • Support engineering tools and applications related to space systems
  • Track andmaintaincompliance with NIST 800-171 security controls
  • Support audits, documentation, and SSP/POA&M updates
  • Implement andmonitorsecurity controls, including access management, logging, and endpoint protection
  • Partner with leadership toidentifyand remediate compliance gaps
  • Develop andmaintaintechnical documentation and procedures
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues across mission environments
  • Maintain network documentation and support basic segmentation efforts
  • Track IT assets, configurations, and system baselines
  • Maintainaccuratesystem, network, and security documentation
  • Support secure onboarding and offboarding processes
