About The Position

PRIMARY PURPOSE This Ministry Associate will further the goals and vision of Missions, Service & Public Life initiatives and projects through student recruitment and mentoring, coordination of daily logistics, scheduling, programming, training, event management, and serve as an ambassador for programs and activities. This position works primarily during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 8-5, with some job assignments that require evening and weekend events. Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Truett Seminary, the Garland School of Social Work, the Law School, or the Graduate School
  • Strong logistical and organizational skills
  • Skilled in event planning

Nice To Haves

  • Some relevant background and experience in cultural or religious diversity and belonging is preferred
  • Experience in curriculum design, mentoring and/or leadership

Responsibilities

  • Assist with departmental programs/initiatives as assigned including, but not limited to: Steppin’ Out Day of Service, BearAid Disaster Relief, Mission Trips, Missions Week, MLK Day of Service, Habitat for Humanity, Santa’s Workshop service event, and Campus Kitchen.
  • Communicate with Baylor and Non-Baylor individuals who have inquiries about Missions, Service & Public Life events/programming (training will be provided)
  • Serve as a Mission Trip leader if qualifications are met and schedule permits
  • Work some evenings, weekends and holidays as needed for events
  • Work unsupervised at times (following training)
  • Lift 25 to 50 pounds regularly
  • Move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • See and respond to potentially hazardous situations during community service site inspections
  • Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, steep ramps, or stairs to access event materials/supplies
  • Work in extreme weather (heat and/or cold)
  • Drive for MSPL events and activities (pending approval through Baylor’s Driver Training)
  • Assist staff with other MSPL or Spiritual Life programs
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Support event planning and coordination of signature events throughout the department
  • Perform related other duties as assigned by supervisor
