About The Position

The Mining Operations Supervisor provides frontline leadership to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of underground mining activities. The role oversees daily work coordination, leads operational and safety preparation, maintains geotechnical compliance, and applies risk‑management principles to support consistent, high‑quality performance outcomes. In this role you will: Be able to obtain/retain a certification to supervise workers in an underground mining environment from the Saskatchewan Mines Branch. Provide strong leadership to build the capabilities of the underground mine operations crew and manage performance to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality operational execution. Lead routine operational and safety meetings to ensure teams are fully prepared and aligned for effective management of daily operational workload. Be accountable for coordinating and managing the daily workload for the mine operations team to ensure safe, efficient, and productive execution of activities. Ensure that active mining faces and open travel ways/areas are geotechnically compliant. Ensure proper selection of ground control remediation tools/methods and identify when to elevate situations to higher management. Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP's risk management framework, and build a risk-aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes. Identify, engage, and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders. Leverage technology, data, and experience to evaluate problems and identify solutions. Support the Operational Readiness handover/transition from the Project team to BHP Operations. Assess value‑improvement opportunities and establish mitigation plans for anticipated challenges.

Requirements

  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, and environment.
  • 5+ Years applicable experience in the mining industry, preferably potash.
  • Ability to anticipate, mitigate and confidently resolve potential problems within and across teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams and overseeing projects.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Aptitude for building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to respond to tight deadlines, significant workloads, and changing priorities.
  • Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills, with an aptitude for collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Trade or operations background or bachelor’s degree in engineering with relevant levels of work experience in mining or construction.
  • Aptitude for translating technical documents and drawings into straightforward operator instructions.
