About The Position

Reporting to the Mine Operations Senior Supervisor, the Mine Operations Lead is responsible for assisting mine operations supervisors by operating heavy equipment and leading equipment operators and laborers. This role ensures all company procedures and safety policies are strictly followed to protect all colleagues. This role will be located at the Copper World Project, approximately 45 minutes southwest of Tucson near Sahuarita, Arizona.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Three years’ experience in the mining industry.
  • Two years’ experience operating heavy machinery for roads, pads, or earthwork projects.
  • Experience operating, managing, and optimizing the use of small earthwork equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of project practices, policies, and systems.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and reliable personal transportation to the site.
  • Ability to achieve Caterpillar certification for operating a backhoe, water truck, and tractor.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and prove licensure.

Nice To Haves

  • Current MSHA certification.
  • Current Caterpillar certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead equipment operators and laborers.
  • Collaborate with the training department to help train and grow new operators.
  • Communicate work plans and project scope to the crew prior to implementation.
  • Motivate and manage the team to ensure a positive work ethic.
  • Assist with earthwork operations, pioneering work on access roads, and drill pad construction.
  • Operate heavy equipment to support various construction projects around the site.
  • Build and maintain new and existing roads throughout the site.
  • Independently identify project needs and coordinate equipment maintenance and task completions.
  • Perform minor maintenance activities as required to meet ongoing needs.
  • Track earthwork KPIs and present results on a weekly basis.
  • Provide verbal and written daily shift reports to Mine Supervision regarding progress.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of safety systems and identify potential hazards in assigned work areas.
  • Understand equipment components to reduce damage and wear.
