About The Position

The Mill Manager, under the general direction of the Education Manager, is responsible for the successful planning and execution of daily mill operations, programming, and visitor services at Lanterman’s Mill. It is the responsibility of the Mill Manager to complete all assigned duties, tasks, instructions and/or work orders in a safe, efficient and timely manner. This position is suitable for transitional duty.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors upon arrival at Lanterman's Mill and ensure a welcoming environment
  • Grind grain and package flour for daily sale
  • Perform daily and annual mill operations, including event and programming planning and setup
  • Perform routine inspections of Lanterman's Mill and related grounds to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper operation of the facility
  • Evaluate all aspects of mill programming and provide recommendations based upon completed assessments
  • Provide guests with relevant information and resources regarding rules, regulations, programs, and services
  • Assist with customer service and cashier functions, including answering calls and fee collection
  • Serve as a liaison between Mill Creek MetroParks and the community
  • Manage administrative tasks, including daily reporting, purchase order and invoice processing, file organization, inventory management, and record storage
  • Prepare accurate estimates of program costs and develop sufficient cost recovery formulas for the corresponding programs and events
  • Collaborate on scheduling school visits as needed
  • Lead tours and interpret natural heritage of Lanterman's Mill and surrounding areas
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate seasonal holiday events and programming
  • Assist visitors by making and completing Lanterman's Mill programming and event registrations, taking payments, sharing site information, and creating daily reports
  • Assist visitors by providing brochures, maps, wayfinding, etc.
  • Open and secure the facility as scheduled, maintaining public displays
  • Supervise various part-time and seasonal employees, ensuring that daily actions and attitudes are of a positive and professional manner
  • Plan and schedule daily work projects and personnel required
  • Provide leadership, direct supervision, and support to assigned employees and volunteers
  • Deliver regular performance feedback and issue discipline, training, and coaching as required
  • Participate in the hiring, evaluation, development, and retention of team members
  • Ensure all educational displays, facilities, and structures are safe, clean, and well-maintained
  • Review, approve, and maintain all necessary departmental records, including but not limited to timecards, program data, purchase orders, and work orders
  • Oversee retail operations located in Lanterman's Mill, including merchandise selection, inventory control. and product promotion
  • Ensure that all organization policies, procedures, and safety practices are followed
  • Oversee contractual preventative maintenance and repaor of departmental equipent and Lanterman's Mill, including grinding stones, water wheel, and other building systems
  • Assist as directed with the ordering, scheduling, renting, delivery, and storage of supplies, materials, tools, and equipment
  • Perform minor repairs as needed
  • Maintain equipment as assigned, making recommendations for replacement and/or additions as necessary
