About The Position

The Mill Machinist II, more commonly known as a CNC Mill Set Up/Programmer/Operator, is responsible to write programming and perform set-up of computer numerically controlled milling machines, planning for appropriate sequencing and tooling requirements, to ensure the timely and quality productions of aviation parts and various precision components. S/he reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods as per the required sequence and dimensions. S/he tests programs and creates samples and blueprinted parts to ensure the desired dimensions and quality of finished jobs before beginning production activities or transferring responsibility of part production to other mill operators. The Mill Machinist is responsible to perform the set-up of Milling machines with the appropriate programs and tooling in place in preparation for production. S/he also operates the Mill and manufactures parts, proactively inspecting his or her own worn and finished products against established standards. S/he completes appropriate paperwork and log-ins for each job as well as securing inspection approvals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 5+ Years Related CNC programing experience and CNC Mill set up and operation. Prior programming experience with aviation parts preferred.
  • Proficient with Shoptech E2 or similar manufacturing ERP
  • Proficient with CNC Vertical Milling Centers (preferably HAAS).
  • Experience with a variety of shop tools, equipment and machinery.
  • Must be able to read and understand technical data, quality procedures, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and policies.
