The primary responsibility of the Military Outreach Coordinator position is to assist in the overall development and enhancement of university military/veteran friendly policies and procedures for veterans, active-duty service members, dependents, and survivors. The person will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the main Military Outreach Center as well as 5 other campus locations. The coordinator will assist in the transition process of veterans to an academic setting while connecting them with appropriate departments and resources on each of the campuses. The Military Outreach Coordinator will have demonstrated leadership, management skills, and communication skills, both written and oral. He/she will have a working knowledge of the educational, social, and physical challenges facing active military, veterans, and their families. The coordinator will be able to analyze and determine special personal needs (such as posttraumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, substance abuse, etc.), as well as family needs, to support appropriate referral.
