About The Position

Kearney and Company is seeking a Military and Travel Pay Specialist to join their growing team. This specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payment of military salaries, allowances, and travel reimbursements. This includes reviewing financial documents, applying regulations, and supporting service members with pay-related issues. Requirements

  • BS/BA/BBA degree from an accredited college/university in a STEM discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of DOD finance experience
  • Active Secret Clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of financial systems and spreadsheets
  • Understanding of government or military pay systems
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Systems
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Defense Travel System (DTS)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial software

Responsibilities

  • Process active duty, reserve, and retired pay transactions
  • Calculate entitlements (basic pay, housing allowance, special pay, etc.)
  • Handle pay adjustments, debts, and overpayments
  • Ensure compliance with military pay regulations (e.g., DFAS policies)
  • Review and process travel vouchers and reimbursement claims
  • Verify travel orders and receipts
  • Calculate per diem, mileage, and lodging reimbursements
  • Ensure compliance with the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR)
  • Assist service members and employees with pay inquiries
  • Explain pay policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance on submitting proper documentation
