A Certified Nurse Midwife provides medical care for women’s reproductive health and childbirth. Their duties include providing reproductive care, family planning services and recordkeeping. Essential Job Functions Manages the care of pregnant women, providing primary care as needed, providing prenatal care and providing gynecology care to include contraceptive management, uro-gynecology, and dysplasia care Independently manages obstetrical and gynecological patients in out-patient office, Independently manages labor and delivery/postpartum/ triage Monitoring the health of pregnant women and their unborn babies. Educating patients as well as their partners and family members on reproductive health, preparation for parenthood, and antenatal care. Teaching patients with pain management techniques to prepare them for labor. Delivering patients in hospitals as well as providing emotional support and encouragement during labor. Taking and recording patients' blood pressure, temperature, and pulse as well as ordering diagnostic tests as needed. Helping patients and their partners to cope with miscarriages, stillbirths, neonatal deaths, and terminations. Assisting patients in creating individualized birth plans. Providing sound advice to patients regarding diets, exercises, and medications suitable for pregnancy Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and refers patients to specialists when necessary. Other duties as assigned.
