Shore Educational Collaborative was established in 1975 as one of 24 educational collaboratives in Massachusetts, providing public special education to students with disabilities. Over 180 students, aged 3-22, attend our school in Chelsea, receiving a comprehensive education and related services. Role and Responsibilities: Shore Educational Collaborative is hiring a Special Education Teacher to educate Middle School-Aged students with Autism and/or other developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • Current DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities preferred.
  • Candidates who are close to licensure, who are eligible for licensure, or who have a different DESE license and are willing to pursue the appropriate licensure will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with students with Autism and knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP while addressing grade-level content standards with modifications and accommodations as necessary.
  • Utilize positive reinforcement, behavior modification, and classroom routines to shape positive behaviors and create an inclusive safe environment where learning can occur both academically and socially/emotionally.
  • Implement a collaborative relationship with each student’s service providers.
  • Maintain regular communication with the families of students in your classroom regarding their progress.
  • Develop and implement Individual Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) where necessary.
  • This position will include a mandatory, six week annual summer program, starting with the summer of 2024.
