About The Position

An Academy Dean leads each academy. While other leaders oversee academic operations, our Academy Deans are focused on instructional excellence, developing strong teachers and, through them, driving scholar achievement. If you are an experienced instructional leader ready to help shape a rigorous, student-centered program serving one of the most economically and ethnically diverse communities in the country, we encourage you to apply. Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in the analysis of assessment data, the use of data to drive instruction, and the training of teachers to lead effective Professional Learning Community meetings
  • Deep commitment to the mission and goals of the school
  • A minimum of five years working in a similar school environment
  • N.J. Teaching Certificate (any content area)
  • Significant experience and proven success regarding the job responsibilities outlined above
  • A powerful commitment to the mission and goals of Empowerment Academy Community Charter School
  • Teach Like a Champion by Doug Lemov
  • With All Due Respect by Ronald Morrish

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Middle School academy in alignment with BelovED’s mission and core values
  • Drive instructional vision, academic outcomes, and culture
  • Lead recruitment and selection of high-quality instructional staff
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to teachers
  • Lead professional development aligned to instructional priorities
  • Oversee evaluation processes to ensure continuous improvement
  • Serve as a member of the K to 12 Leadership Team
