About The Position

Wellan Montessori School is seeking an experienced educator to join our team as a Middle School STEM Teacher working with students in grades 7 – 8 for the 2026-2027 school year. Wellan's Middle School program offers a unique opportunity to teach in an integrated, theme-based model where STEM is not siloed, but woven into interdisciplinary units driven by big questions and real-world relevance. Teachers have the freedom to design hands-on learning experiences that include labs, design challenges, field studies, and project-based work, rather than relying on more traditional approaches. Our program prioritizes extended work periods and strong student-teacher relationships, and is intentionally designed around the needs of adolescents. This structure gives teachers the time and context to truly know their students and differentiate in authentic ways. With a strong emphasis on collaboration and intellectual risk-taking, the program attracts curious adolescents who are eager to explore, question, and apply their learning beyond the classroom. The Middle School STEM Teacher supports all aspects of classroom operation, including working with co-teachers to prepare the classroom environment, deliver the integrated curriculum, and create classroom and instructional materials. The Middle School STEM Teacher must be comfortable working 1:1 with students and leading small group lessons, as well as teaching a full class of students. The position is full-time and begins in late August 2026. The Middle School STEM Teacher must take shared responsibility for maintaining an orderly, safe, and appropriately challenging learning environment for students, and must be willing to work closely with co-teachers to support the goals of the classroom and the school.
