The Jupiter Christian School Teacher must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission and philosophy of Jupiter Christian School and is committed to help see it become a reality in the lives of our students by manifesting, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and as an example to parents and fellow employees in judgement, dignity, respect, and Christian living according to the Conditions of Employment outlined in the JCS faculty contract. The teacher must be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity in academic and leadership abilities that will enable him/her to teach God’s truth. The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are pre-requisites. The successful STEM Teacher is a great communicator (written and verbal) with excellent interpersonal skills who also understands and prioritizes the importance of exposure to STEM in middle school education. Prior experience in K-12 STEM-related fields (emphasis on engineering or applying engineering and NGSS standards to maker challenges), Project Lead the Way curriculum, project-based learning, and knowledge of developing STEM programs is desirable.

Requirements

  • Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior

  • Must be able to demonstrate active membership and involvement in a local church
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field.
  • STEM or related field teaching experience: minimum of 2 years teaching experience with knowledge and expertise in teaching STEM in middle school.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters and/or FL state teaching license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach technology and STEM-related classes for 6th through 8th grade students including Typing Tactics, Building for the Future, Medical Detectives, and Flight & Space.
  • Delivers STEM-oriented instruction (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through Project-Based Learning methods, Project Lead the Way curriculum, and the 8-step Design Process of Engineering.
  • Design teacher-made STEM and maker challenges to support 6th-8th NGSS and Florida Engineering standards.
  • Apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration to ensure and measure learner progress.
  • Demonstrate evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning.
  • Be an exemplar in the use of technology in the classroom to engage learners and build positive relationships.
  • Lead students through competition opportunities (eg. ACSI STEM and Lego Robotics) at the middle school level (fulfills Plus-1, as needed).
  • Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position
  • Participate in necessary training and professional development to appropriately deliver STEM curriculum in the the classroom.
  • Builds effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and is available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g., open house, conferences, extra-curricular activities.
  • JCS “Plus One” principle - JCS expects all faculty members to be involved as either sponsors of or participants in at least one co-curricular, athletic, or student life activity outside of the classroom.
