Academies of Math and Science Middle School Social Studies Teacher (2026–2027) Location: AMS Little Rock Compensation Range: $53,314 – $59,444 (based on verified full-time teaching experience) Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a passionate, data-driven Middle School Social Studies Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and foster students’ understanding of history, civics, geography, and social responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or related field OR Valid state teaching certification in a relevant subject area OR Minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
  • Show commitment to serving Title I and diverse student populations
  • Demonstrate a data-driven instructional mindset
  • Exhibit professionalism, collaboration, and initiative
  • Arkansas State Background Check
  • Child Maltreatment Central Registry Check
  • Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) required background clearance and fingerprinting

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Education or related field
  • Prior middle school teaching experience
  • Arkansas state teaching certification

Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned Social Studies instruction aligned to AMS curriculum frameworks
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including students performing above and below grade level
  • Develop students’ critical thinking, analytical, and discussion skills through historical and real-world connections
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to drive instruction and interventions
  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment
  • Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies
  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development
  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders
  • Engage in data analysis cycles to improve student outcomes
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
  • Lead conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships
