Academies of Math and Science Middle School Language Arts Teacher 2026–2027 Location: AMS Little Rock Compensation Range: $53,314 – $59,444 (based on verified full-time teaching experience) Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS Arkansas represents our first expansion beyond Arizona, and we are excited to serve students and families in the Little Rock community. We believe in high expectations, rigorous instruction, and strong relationships to develop students into confident, capable learners. AMS is seeking a passionate, data-driven Middle School Language Arts Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and strengthen students’ reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.

Requirements

  • Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Language Arts, or related field OR
  • Valid state teaching certification in a relevant subject area OR
  • Minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience
  • Additionally, candidates must:
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
  • Show commitment to serving Title I and diverse student populations
  • Demonstrate a data-driven instructional mindset
  • Exhibit professionalism, collaboration, and initiative

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Education or related field
  • Prior middle school teaching experience
  • Arkansas state teaching certification

Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned ELA instruction aligned to AMS curriculum frameworks
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including students performing above and below grade level
  • Build strong literacy skills, including reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and analysis
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to drive instruction and interventions
  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment
  • Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies
  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development
  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders
  • Engage in data analysis cycles to improve student outcomes
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
  • Lead conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships
