About The Position

Flagstaff Academy is seeking a full time Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, responsible for teaching students in grades six through eight. The role involves close collaboration with the Middle School Team to ensure a meaningful scope and sequence for the middle school Core Knowledge curriculum. Flagstaff Academy, located in Longmont, is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades kindergarten through eighth, also offering a tuition-based preschool program. Established in 2005, it has become Longmont’s premier science and technology school, operated by a board of directors and serving approximately 800 students within the St. Vrain Valley School District. The school's mission is to develop well-rounded, ethical leaders with a foundation in science and technology. Its guiding principles include providing a K-8 Core Knowledge-based education with a science and technology focus, offering opportunities for scientific and technological exploration, pursuing excellence in every student and employee, promoting academic achievement and creativity, welcoming an academically diverse student population, and respecting individuals, classrooms, school, community, and the world.

Requirements

  • Subject expertise in physical science, life science, and earth and space science
  • Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Current Colorado teaching license

Employees contribute 11% of monthly earnings while Flagstaff Academy contributes 21.4% to the PERA pension trust fund on the employee’s behalf
  • Life/AD&D insurance - Flagstaff Academy provides a Life/AD&D insurance policy with a $40,000 benefit for each eligible employee
