About The Position

Excel Academy was founded in 2003 with the mission to provide a high-quality education to students in East Boston and Chelsea. Over the years, we have grown from one middle school to a network of four schools with 1,400 students in grades 5 to 12. Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree preferred

Nice To Haves

• Have a track record of leading and/or engaging in anti-racist work
• Have a track record that reflects the importance of rigorous classroom instruction and culture
• Have experience in a public or charter school setting and have experience working with schools that serve grades K-12
• Have experience teaching or leading schools that serve family populations that are similar to those at Excel Academy
• Speak Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic fluently

Responsibilities

• Teach science to several sections of students
• Collaborate with department members to develop and refine Excel’s curriculum
• Design and implement rigorous assessments that evaluate student mastery of academic standards
• Create a safe learning environment for all students by implementing Excel’s classroom management strategies and best practices with consistency
• Provide coverage as needed during non-instructional time
• Serve as a productive member of the Excel Academy community
• Do whatever it takes to ensure the mission of the school is upheld
