Job SummarySt John the Baptist Catholic Church, Gildehaus is seeking a mission-driven Middle School Science and Language Arts Teacher for grades 6–8. This educator will provide engaging, rigorous instruction in both content areas while fostering critical thinking, literacy development, and a love of learning. The ideal candidate supports the mission of Catholic education and creates a structured, faith-centered classroom environment that meets the diverse needs of students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, English/Language Arts, or related field required
  • Valid Missouri teaching certification (or eligibility)
  • Experience teaching middle school students preferred
  • Strong understanding of literacy instruction and STEM-based learning
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to support diverse learners and adapt instruction as needed
  • Commitment to Catholic education and student faith formation

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in science and language arts aligned with curriculum standards
  • Design engaging lessons, including hands-on science activities and literacy-based learning experiences
  • Support student growth in reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities
  • Use a variety of assessments to monitor progress and provide timely feedback
  • Incorporate technology and instructional strategies to enhance learning
  • Maintain accurate records, including lesson plans, grades, and student progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary planning and student support
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and faith-centered classroom environment
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development
  • Model and uphold the mission and values of Catholic education
