Job SummarySt John the Baptist Catholic Church, Gildehaus is seeking a mission-driven Middle School Science and Language Arts Teacher for grades 6–8. This educator will provide engaging, rigorous instruction in both content areas while fostering critical thinking, literacy development, and a love of learning. The ideal candidate supports the mission of Catholic education and creates a structured, faith-centered classroom environment that meets the diverse needs of students.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, English/Language Arts, or related field required
Valid Missouri teaching certification (or eligibility)
Experience teaching middle school students preferred
Strong understanding of literacy instruction and STEM-based learning
Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to support diverse learners and adapt instruction as needed
Commitment to Catholic education and student faith formation

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality instruction in science and language arts aligned with curriculum standards
Design engaging lessons, including hands-on science activities and literacy-based learning experiences
Support student growth in reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities
Use a variety of assessments to monitor progress and provide timely feedback
Incorporate technology and instructional strategies to enhance learning
Maintain accurate records, including lesson plans, grades, and student progress
Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary planning and student support
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration
Foster a positive, respectful, and faith-centered classroom environment
Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development
Model and uphold the mission and values of Catholic education
