About The Position

The OST(Out of School Time) program at Belmont Charter, Belmont Academy, and Inquiry Charter provides comprehensive programming to keep students safe and help them succeed in school and life. Project Based Learning, experiential learning, and service learning models allow student voice to increase while engaging their academic, enrichment, and social-emotional growth as well. The role of our Assistant Track Coach is to lead, condition, and prepare the team by modeling and teaching the skills necessary for practices, competitions, and overall athletic growth. The Coach is expected to be punctual and present for all scheduled practices, support students in maintaining academic and behavioral expectations, and foster a team culture rooted in discipline, effort, and sportsmanship. The Coach will work closely with other coaches as well as the Athletic and OST Director, to coordinate competitions, travel, and logistics for both home and away events. This position requires a minimum of three practices per week, with consistent scheduling and communication around any changes. Additional OST opportunities may be available between seasons. This is a seasonal position and will be paid biweekly.

Requirements

  • Must familiarize themselves with the school’s athletic policy for after-school
  • All employees must be able to provide the Pennsylvania State Police with a criminal record Background Check Clearance (Act 34), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
  • Strong working knowledge of the sport
  • Strong written and communication skills;
  • Displays initiative and ability to follow through with vision and goals;
  • Detail Oriented
  • Enthusiasm for teaching track skills to beginning players
  • Ability to work evenings until 6 PM/end of games and occasional weekends for competitions and needed practices
  • A minimum of two years coaching experience and/or four plus years experience in the coaching track.

Responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day practices
  • Supervise students throughout program time
  • Coach during meets and duals
  • Maintain uniforms and control distribution and return
  • Set up and maintain equipment
  • Communicate effectively with the Athletic Director, other coaches, OST Director, and parents/families regarding student needs, concerns, or program issues.
  • Use ParentSquare regularly to update families about practice and games/ meets
  • Travel with the team to all games and events
  • Monitor student athlete attendance and academics
