Job SummaryAssumption Catholic School, Mattese is seeking a passionate, student-centered Middle School Language Arts Teacher who is committed to fostering strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and a love of reading and writing in students. The ideal candidate creates engaging, standards-aligned instruction while nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, and personal growth of each learner. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Language Arts, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or willingness to obtain appropriate certification.
  • Experience working with middle school–aged students in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of reading, writing, grammar, and literature instruction.
  • Ability to plan engaging lessons and differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
  • Effective classroom-management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to collaborating with colleagues, parents, and school leadership.
  • Willingness to support and uphold the Catholic mission and values of the school.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver rigorous, developmentally appropriate lessons in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literature.
  • Implement curriculum aligned with school standards and Catholic educational values.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction, to support diverse learners.
  • Integrate technology to enhance instruction, student engagement, and assessment.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth.
  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and skill development.
  • Analyze student data to inform instruction and provide targeted support.
  • Communicate academic progress to students, parents, and administrators.
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Manage classroom routines and behavior through respectful, consistent expectations.
  • Foster a love for reading, writing, and lifelong learning.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
  • Participate in professional learning communities, faculty meetings, and school initiatives.
  • Collaborate with support staff to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Model and uphold the values and mission of Assumption Catholic School.
  • Participate in school liturgies, prayer, service projects, and community events.
  • Support the spiritual development of students through example and classroom practices.
