Trevor Day School is seeking a full-time Middle School English Teacher and Advisor for the 2026–2027 school year. Responsibilities include planning and teaching 7th Grade English to the entire grade. Students examine the process of developing individual voice through narrative and analytical writing assignments, regularly refining their own written and oral expression through this exploration. Students also continue to develop vocabulary and grammar skills through consistent lessons and practice exercises. Important to the role of a middle school teacher is serving as an advisor to a group of approximately ten 7th-grade students. Responsibilities of the advisor include meeting with each advisee once per cycle, functioning as the primary school contact for those students’ families, and holding twice-yearly family conferences. Qualifications and experiences should include: Master's degree preferred. Three or more years of full-time experience teaching English. Clear passion for the subject matter. Experience incorporating reading and writing skills instruction into the curriculum. Ability to teach students to write at length and provide effective written feedback. Comfort with differentiating instruction to accommodate a range of learning styles. Enthusiasm for collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development. Proficiency in using technology to enhance classroom learning. Familiarity with AI as a teaching and learning tool. Experience using varied methods of assessment that encourage original student voice and ensure academic integrity. Proven ability to form strong, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The full-time annual salary range for this position is $60,000–$110,000, as per the school’s salary scale.
