About The Position

Holy Cross Academy is seeking a dynamic and mission‑driven Full‑Time Middle School English/Social Studies Teacher to join our faculty. This role is responsible for delivering engaging instruction in literature, writing, grammar, history, geography, and civics while fostering a classroom environment rooted in respect, inquiry, and Catholic values. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong content knowledge, effective classroom‑management skills, and a commitment to supporting the academic, social, and spiritual growth of middle school students.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Social Studies, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Valid Missouri teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
Experience teaching middle school students or working with adolescents.
Strong understanding of ELA and Social Studies content, instructional strategies, and adolescent development.
Excellent communication, organization, and classroom‑management skills.
Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
Must meet Archdiocesan compliance requirements, including Safe Environment training.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high‑quality instruction in English Language Arts and Social Studies aligned with school and Archdiocesan curriculum standards.
Create a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and active learning.
Integrate Catholic values and perspectives into classroom discussions and learning experiences.
Develop lessons that incorporate reading comprehension, writing skills, primary sources, and project‑based learning.
Assess student progress using a variety of tools and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, colleagues, and administrators.
Maintain accurate records, including lesson plans, grades, and student documentation.
Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
Collaborate with the middle school team on curriculum planning, interdisciplinary projects, and school initiatives.
Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and schoolwide events.
Model Catholic values and contribute positively to the spiritual life of the school community.
