About The Position

The Pegasus School seeks a thoughtful, experienced, and student-centered Middle School Director to lead a dynamic program serving students in grades 6–8. This is an opportunity to shape a division where students are known, challenged, and inspired to grow into confident, capable leaders. Grounded in a strong academic foundation, the Middle School program is designed to cultivate the habits of mind and character reflected in Pegasus’s Portrait of a Graduate. Students are encouraged to be curious scholars and critical thinkers, to communicate with clarity, collaborate with purpose, and engage the world with perspective, empathy, and integrity. Reporting to the Head of School and serving as a member of the Leadership Team, the Middle School Director oversees all aspects of the division, including curriculum, faculty development, student life, and daily operations. The Director leads a program that balances academic challenge with meaningful support, helping students develop confidence in their abilities while also fostering resilience, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging. In collaboration with the Lower School Director and Assistant Head of School for Student Life and Community Engagement, the Director helps ensure a cohesive and developmentally responsive approach to student well-being, behavior, and community across the PK–8 program. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of middle school students, a commitment to faculty growth, and a collaborative leadership style. This is a highly relational role that calls for strong communication, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate complexity with care and clarity. Nice To Haves

  • Employee must hold a master’s degree in a relevant discipline or an Educational Administration credential.
  • Preference will be given to those with at least five years of experience in school administration and prior middle school teaching experience.
  • Candidates with a background in independent schools are highly preferred.
