Curriculum and Instruction Be present and willing to do whatever it takes from 7:30 AM to 4:45 PM, Monday through Friday , including occasional Saturday sessions (7:30–1:00 PM) and 2–3 weeks during the summer , to ensure all scholars receive a high-quality music education that supports their holistic development. Assist in the development and refinement of the band curriculum , ensuring alignment with Oklahoma Fine Arts Standards and KIPP Tulsa’s mission. Plan, structure, and deliver daily rehearsals and music lessons that are engaging, rigorous, relevant , and aligned with a year-long scope and sequence. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, skill levels, and interests of students across both middle and high school grades. In collaboration with Special Education staff, ensure that all IEPs and student learning needs are supported through appropriate accommodations and modifications. Foster a classroom and rehearsal environment that is positive, structured, joyful, and conducive to creativity and learning . Communicate with students and families, including being available during evening hours by phone, to address music-related questions, practice support, and performance preparation. Performance, Data, Reflection, and Growth Organize and lead school concerts, performances, and musical showcases throughout the school year that highlight student progress and celebrate the arts. Assist with the district's marching band program. With support from school leadership, use scholar participation data, practice logs, formative assessments (e.g., playing tests, vocal assessments), and performance rubrics to drive planning and instruction. Engage in regular reflection and seek opportunities to grow your craft through coaching, peer collaboration, and professional development. Participate in KIPP Tulsa’s coaching and evaluation cycle , incorporating feedback to enhance instruction, rehearsal strategies, and student engagement. School Culture and Professionalism Help build a joyful, inclusive, and high-expectations music culture across middle and high school. Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff grounded in mutual respect, high expectations, and shared joy for the arts. Uphold and implement KIPP Tulsa’s school-wide positive behavior system , ensuring consistent expectations across academic and elective spaces.
