About The Position

The Middle School Assistant Principal supports the Principal by overseeing the daily leadership of grades 4–7 and coordinating key K–7 programs. This role helps teachers, supports students and families, guides curriculum and instruction, and leads specials, fine arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities. The Assistant Principal works to ensure a safe, orderly, and Christ-centered school environment where students can learn and grow.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education
  • Minimum of 2 years of middle or upper school teaching
  • Credible profession of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ
  • Godly character (pastoral and other character references may be required)
  • Membership at First Baptist Rogers
  • Understanding of the school’s mission and support of the philosophy and pedagogy practices
  • Teachable and committed to growing, learning, and developing new understanding and skills
  • Understanding of and ability to integrate a biblical worldview into all aspects of school and programs
  • Heart for students, ability to interact with and lead children, strong desire to see children learn well, to know God and to love God

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership or administrative experience a plus
  • Experience leading sports and extracurricular programs a plus
  • Christian school experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Special Classes Supervision : Provide leadership, guidance, scheduling, and support to staff in specials classes, including library, PE, art, music, technology, and future special classes like foreign languages. Ensure curriculum expectations and maps are created and follow school expectations. Assistant in the scheduling and planning for special classes. All for grades K-7.
  • Extracurricular Opportunities: Ensure that clubs and activities are offered, sponsored, and expectations are developed and written for those opportunities including clubs and activities like missions club, Quiz Bowl, student council, and other special interest clubs. All for grades 4-7.
  • F ine Arts and Sports Program Management : Identify opportunities for sports teams for the school, grades K-7. Identify leagues, facilities, coaches, and other needs to implement a growing sports program for students in K-7. Facilitate middle school sports that include conference alignment. Build fine arts programs that focus on quality and performance in band, choir, art, and theatre.
  • Strategic Planning : Work with school principal, parents, board, FBC Rogers leadership, and more stakeholders to create vision for the middle and upper school as we grow, including opportunities in academics, fine arts, extracurriculars, and sports. Work with the leadership team to execute the vision of the upper school, including facility, personnel, and other program needs.
  • Curriculum Development and Implementation : Assist in developing and ensuring content and curriculum in elementary classrooms align with state standards. Review and ensure maps are updated for all subjects and grade levels 4-7.
  • Teacher Partnership: Provide guidance and support on best practices for teachers in implementing educational content in grades 4-7. Lead team meetings to ensure instruction and expectations are consistent from classroom-to-classroom, and grade-to-grade. Conduct evaluation and walk throughs of all specials teachers, activity and fine arts classes, and teachers grades 4-7.
  • Professional Development: Work with the school principal in identifying areas and specific training for staff in professional development.
  • Discipline Management : Oversee student expectations and discipline in grades 4-7 in alignment with the school’s handbook policies. Communicate with staff and parents as needed regarding discipline issues. In matters of consistent discipline concerns with students or severe misbehavior incidents, work with lead school principal in determining consequences and parent communication.
  • Parent Partnership : Engage families in a warm, Christlike manner. Be visible and consistent with parents at all times. Build rapport by learning about families, talking with them, and praying for them. Respond to parent concerns and praises with kindness, promptness, and professionalism. Help find ways for parents to take active roles in their student’s school life and how to support the school.
  • Hiring and Onboarding : In conjunction with school principal, review, interview, and make recommendations for new staff hires in grades 4-7. Assist in helping orient new hires to school expectations, procedures, and values so they become a welcomed member of the Falcon Family.
  • Leadership Team : Collaborate with school principal and elementary school assistant principal to build a school culture built on Biblical values that honor God. Meet consistently with the leadership team. Help identify policies and procedures that need to be addressed.
  • Administrative Duties : Assist in building the school schedule, including special classes, developing duty schedules, chapel speakers and themes, events and experiences as needed. Uphold all school policies.
  • Other areas: Follows Matthew 18:15-17 model for handling conflicts. Performs teaching and non-teaching tasks with attention to quality, detail, timeliness, and professionalism. Maintains licensure.
