About The Position

PURPOSE The Middle East Cohort Developer will teach and mentor young adults as they discern vocation, deepen discipleship, and mature a Christian worldview within the biblically rooted cultural context of the Middle East. This position will serve as coordinator for diverse groups of Christian young adults, based in Cairo, Egypt. This role will assist with recruitment through alumni stages, as participants grow in language fluency, build intentional community, and develop skills suited to future ministries. The position also supports participants in theological reflection, fostering relationships with Resonate’s Egyptian and Middle Eastern ministry partners and with Egypt-based and regional Middle East and West Africa teams. Communicate the nature and value of Resonate Global Mission's ministries, vision, and values to the CRCNA and beyond, and participate in support raising for missionary support and appropriate projects. This is a 20-hour/week position. The successful candidate must reside in either one of the following U.S. states: California, New York, New Jersey, Texas, Illinois, or Michigan; or in one of the following Canadian provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, or Ontario. Requirements

  • Professing membership in a Christian Reformed congregation, or of a church in communion with the CRCNA, and agreement with the doctrine of the church signified by signing a covenant statement.
  • Strong familiarity with the historical, cultural, religious, and linguistic context of Egypt and of the wider Middle East and North Africa.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Fluency in English required; Arabic proficiency strongly preferred; other languages an asset.
  • Proven capability of developing networks, casting vision, and facilitating collaboration.
  • Advanced theological/biblical training
  • Master of Divinity (MDiv) or equivalent (completed or in progress) preferred.
  • Recent experience in Resonate regional Cohort programs, preferably the Middle East Cohort (or a directly related Resonate program).
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring, discipleship, or spiritual formation among young adults.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing spiritual guidance, mentoring, and pastoral support for a small group of young adults (cohort) from diverse denominational, cultural, and national backgrounds.
  • Maintain records and occasional contact with cohort program alumni who continue to live and serve in Egypt.
  • Collaborate with the Resonate Egypt field team to plan and implement the annual cohort program.
  • Develop a balanced schedule of learning experiences, service opportunities, and reflection sessions.
  • Coordinate invitations and logistics for guest speakers, ministry leaders, and cultural experts to engage the cohort.
  • Organize and facilitate several spiritual and educational retreats throughout the year.
  • Integrate activities that foster spiritual formation and intercultural understanding.
  • Lead the recruitment, selection, and orientation process for new cohort members.
  • Maintain relationships with sending churches, partner organizations, and past participants.
  • Integrate historical, cultural, and linguistic insights into cohort programming.
  • Help participants engage Egypt’s social and religious landscape with humility and theological depth.
  • Extend awareness of Resonate’s young-adult volunteer programs in the Middle East and among congregations and campus ministries of the CRC.
  • Participate in support-raising (e.g., prayer, care, and financial support) for Resonate Global Mission’s ministries by developing and maintaining a network of supporting churches and individuals in North America.
  • Educate the CRCNA and others about the nature of the global church and its mission, encouraging them to develop a deeper passion and involvement in global missions.
  • Provide the CRCNA with insight and resources for ministry among minority groups living in North America.
  • Communicate the nature and impact of Resonate Global Mission’s ministries to the CRCNA and others through written communications and preaching/speaking engagements.
