About The Position

Purpose and Impact: Our contract supports more than 12 efforts with varying levels of hardware and software development requirements. Our projects are focused on front end equipment configuration/maintenance, back-end repositories, front end dashboards, as well as everything in between for the full data processing thread. Our teams can range from one to two developers to a team of 12. All of our teams work right alongside our customer to discuss requirements, identify solutions, and choose the way forward for implementation. As part of an engineering office, our customer and our workforce look and plan for future expectations- continuously trying to stay ahead of the next challenge. This position is for a software development team that works directly with hardware design engineers, mission capability customers, and field engineers to deliver an application that is focused on meeting that missions needs. The team is comprised of a total of four contractors, including this position. The team utilizes an agile methodology for building a backlog of tasks, prioritizing those based on the release schedule for minor/major versions, and manages the deployment of software upgrades based on coordination with the customer and field sites. Essential Responsibilities: The Software engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Reviews and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific inputs to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) in place of new development and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

Requirements

  • Three plus years of C++ experience
  • Ten or more years of relevant java programming experience to include at least two years of java 1.7+ and development of presentation tiers
  • Two or more years of experience using Spring and Javascript
  • Five or more years of JSP and servlet programming experience
  • Five or more years of experience with JEE and enterprise web application design and development
  • Five or more years of experience designing and writing REST-ful applications
  • Ability to create and deploy applications in an Apache Tomcat web server
  • One or more eyars experience using Javascript presentation libraries such as Jquery, Angular, and EXTJS
  • One or more years of MongoDB, Apache Camel desired
  • Clearance Required: TS/SCI with Poly
  • Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical disciple from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Minimum Years of Experience: Fourteen (14) years of experience is required. Four additional years of experience are required if the candidate does not have a Bachelors degree in a technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
  • Design and code new software or modifies existing software to add new features
  • Debug existing software and corrects defects
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
  • Develop simple data queries for existing proposed databases or data repositories
  • Make recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
  • Write or review software and system documentation
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers; analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigating problem areas
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
  • Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
  • Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries
  • Oversees one or more software development teams and ensures the work in completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project.
  • Design and implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints
  • Perform quality control on team products
  • Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
  • Coordinates software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
  • Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
