Siemens Healthineers is seeking a Summer Intern to assist in the design, simulation, and testing of high-power linear accelerator structures, including consideration of manufacturing processes and cost tradeoffs. Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS or MS in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
  • Willing to work both on-site and virtually
  • Strong desire and motivation to develop a career in accelerator / high power microwave device industry.
  • Minimum 3.3 GPA (preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Electromagnetics, RF, or microwave engineering fundamentals
  • Linear accelerators, charged particle dynamics, or RF cavities
  • CAD, electromagnetic simulation tools, or numerical modeling
  • Exposure to common machining equipment and terminology (e.g., lathes, mills, endmills, CNC machines)
  • Very good presentation and communication skills that are necessary to communicate well at different levels of a matrix organization.
  • You are well-versed at prioritizing work and managing multiple tasks as needed, good attention to detail, time management and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the design, modeling, and testing of linear accelerator (linac) structures for high-power microwave applications
  • Perform RF cavity analysis and electromagnetic simulations to evaluate performance tradeoffs
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and fabrication teams to assess cost, tolerances, and producibility of design choices
