About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Microsoft SQL DBaaS Engineer to support Government activities in Annapolis Junction, MD, or Sterling, VA. This role involves providing a roadmap for the customer's future DBaaS infrastructure, specifically focusing on Microsoft SQL Server. The engineer will manage the database-as-a-service (DBaaS) platform, oversee database management, data migration, and implement maintenance solutions for customer database infrastructure, including maintaining and managing enterprise SQL server farms and stand-alone databases. The position operates within a people-focused and customer-centric environment, delivering Enterprise Apps services.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI poly
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline + 8 years’ experience or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experience
  • Engineering experience in the design, development and implementation of software development tools to include developing and testing software solutions; analyzing system performance standards, analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes; conferring with users and management to derive system requirements; problem investigation and resolution
  • Experience creating quality Detailed Design documents, Test Plans, Implementation Plans and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Experience with cloud/server/network implementation and with Cloud infrastructure Services or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) support
  • Engineering experience with Microsoft Active Directory including: Granting privileged Access, Configuring Active Directory Services (ADDS), Group Policy, Objects, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), File Sharing services, Active roles Server (ARS)

Responsibilities

  • Guide users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies
  • Analyzing user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications
  • Analyzing system requirements and leads design and development activities
  • Guiding system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans
  • Revising existing systems, testing functionality of the system to correct deficiencies and maintaining more effective data handling, data integrity, conversion, input requirements, and storage
  • Interacting with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts
  • Providing the documentation, testing, and maintenance of system updates, modifications, and configurations
