About The Position

This role is part of the Collaboration Products Team and supports Kroger associates by delivering Microsoft 365 Modern Workplace solutions. The Microsoft 365 Advanced Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and sustaining a secure, resilient, and scalable collaboration environment that enables business growth and operational excellence. The role drives continuous improvement through proactive security gap identification, automation initiatives, and the consistent application of Microsoft 365 best practices. This role will design, evolve, and operate Microsoft 365 and Azure-based workplace services, utilizing their deep technical knowledge of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and related collaboration platforms. This role partners closely with the AI Enablement team to advance the rollout and operational integration of Copilot and AI capabilities across the organization. Provide advanced and/or cross-technology engineering through all phases of the Technology/Project Life Cycle. Accountable for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support. Design, implement/install, maintain and administer infrastructure systems including hardware, software and various configurations. Monitor overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately. Perform root cause analysis on failed components and implement corrective measures. Mentor and coach others to establish and improve processes and procedures. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in support and/or engineering for the specific technical discipline
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to customers and all levels within the organization
  • Proven ability to understand company business problems and identify technical solutions

  • Any experience in leading enterprise base work initiatives and projects

  • Certification within Infrastructure Discipline
  • Ability to develop enhanced production monitoring and additional capability
  • Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft 365 products including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and related collaboration services.
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot implementation experience (readiness assessments, pilots, value measurement) and proven experience with Copilot/Graph API/plugins, Power Platform, or similar AI driven tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Support Legal team with Microsoft Purview eDiscovery operations (legal holds, searches, exports) and maintain appropriate access controls and audit trails.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and Power Automate workflows to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory and Directory Services.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) governance and device lifecycle knowledge.
  • Any Microsoft or Technical certifications are a positive and should be noted, especially related to the core technology stack of M365.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in Microsoft technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of digital innovation.
  • Mentor and coach others to establish and improve processes and procedures.
  • 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure with deep focus on Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Proven experience architecting and supporting enterprise-scale M365 environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement overall infrastructure project components with infrastructure teams, ensuring that overall solution is designed to meet SLA, DR, monitoring, security and scalability needs required by the solution
  • Ensure that post-production operational processes/deliverables are well designed and implemented prior to the project moving into the solution support phase
  • Generate scripts and templates required for the automatic provisioning of resources, on prem, cloud and distributed
  • Discover, install and execute processes and standards for optimal use of cloud service provider offerings
  • Debug technical issues inside a complex stack involving virtualization, containers and microservices
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to enable their applications to run on Cloud infrastructure
  • Define and create operational procedures, processes and scripts
  • Ensure secure operations of infrastructure technologies (security updates, vulnerability management, role access management, configuration hardening)
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new technologies to ensure adherence to architecture guidelines
  • Evaluate vendor technical and support capabilities
  • Provide technical leadership on enterprise work and establishing standards/guidelines
  • Define improvements, increased system reliability and performance
  • Design, implement and support multiple complex systems or applications with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility
  • Support and maintain infrastructure solutions utilizing required tools and technologies
  • Provide off-hours support (24 x 7) as required
