Summary: The Research Assistant (RA) will conduct research related to the lab and will support the creation of a master’s thesis, focusing on soil fungal communities associated with microplastic degradation. The RA's primary responsibilities will include extracting DNA and performing DNA quantification using spectrophotometry, fluorometry, and agarose gel electrophoresis. The RA will also carry out bioinformatics and statistical analyses in R to process and interpret fungal amplicon sequencing data. Additionally, the RA will assist with literature reviews and scientific writing related to the project. The RA will participate in lab meetings and contribute to our collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment.
