About The Position

Undergraduate research assistant will perform and conduct independent laboratory work including but not limited to protein characterization and functionality studies, sunflower protein isolation, and LC-MS analysis.

Requirements

• Currently pursing B.S. studies or completed B.S.
• Experience conducting laboratory work.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Prior research experience.
• Ability to perform duties independently and with little direction.
• Strong analytical and computational skills.
• Ability to collaborate with Principal Investigator and other researchers.
• Ability to conduct experiments in a timely manner and accurately record data.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment and maintain a safe working environment.
• 15 Hours per week

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory work
• Food chemical analysis of sunflower proteins including:
• Sunflower protein isolation and functionality
• Fluorescence analysis
• LC-MS analysis
• Communicate findings orally and in written format
• Characterization of a chlorogenic acid esterase in sunflower protein solutions.
• Routine tasks related to maintaining lab safety, records, as well as ordering supplies.
