About The Position

The Thomas B. Finan Center is an inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Cumberland, Maryland. It is owned and managed by the State of Maryland. This state psychiatric facility operates 88 beds. The Finan Center provides services to persons who are 18 years of age and older. The MH Professional Counselor, CI completes psychological evaluations of patients/residents in accordance with Center policies and Psychology Department standards in order to assist with patient/resident treatment planning, diagnosis, management and treatment. The MH Professional Counselor, CI provides mental health diagnosis, clinical counseling and case management services to clients with mental and emotional disorders.

Requirements

Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.01.05, candidates placed in this classification must be licensed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Nice To Haves

Experience with psychiatric patients/residents.
Knowledge of the philosophies, practices, policies, and outcomes of the most generally accepted and scientifically supported models of treatment, recovery, relapse prevention, and continuing care for mental health-related problems.

Responsibilities

Completes psychological evaluations of patients/residents in accordance with Center policies and Psychology Department standards in order to assist with patient/resident treatment planning, diagnosis, management and treatment.
