About The Position

The Sr Manager of Distribution and Transportation is responsible for leading and optimizing all logistics operations across the food and beverage distribution network. This role oversees warehouse management, fleet operations, and third-party logistics (3PL) partnerships to ensure the safe, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods. The Director will implement strategic initiatives to improve service levels, reduce operating costs, and uphold product integrity from plant to customer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive logistics, distribution, or transportation experience within the food and beverage industry.
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multi-site operations or national distribution networks.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety compliance standards (FSMA, HACCP

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive distribution and transportation strategy that supports business growth and customer satisfaction across retail, food service, and direct-to-consumer channels.
  • Design and maintain a scalable logistics network including company-owned and 3PL-managed warehouses, refrigerated transport, and cross-docking operations.
  • Lead capital investment planning for fleet expansion, facility upgrades, and logistics technology.
  • Oversee all aspects of distribution center operations including order fulfillment and product traceability.
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT, FDA, USDA, and OSHA regulations for food safety and transportation.
  • Manage carrier relationships, contracts, and rate negotiations for inbound and outbound freight.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, destruction rates, and cost per case.
  • Lead and develop direct reports and serve as a subject matter expert for the Argo Warehouse team.
  • Promote a strong culture of food safety, safety compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching and leadership development to strengthen succession readiness within the logistics organization.
  • Drive process improvement methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce waste in warehousing and delivery operations.
  • Ensure optimization of routing and delivery schedules using transportation management systems (TMS) and route optimization software (either through 3PL or inhouse).
  • Collaborate with procurement, production, and sales teams to align logistics capacity with seasonal and promotional demand.
  • Develop and manage the annual logistics budget, including cost per mile, freight spend, and warehouse operating costs.
  • Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining service and quality standards.
  • Use data-driven insights to forecast demand, improve inventory turns, and minimize product loss or obsolescence.
