Job Purpose To manage all wood procurement activities to ensure long term supply to Manufacturing facilities which meet company objectives for profitability. We’d love to meet you if... … you’re energized by big challenges and creating a plan to meet the challenge … you enjoy working with others to deliver great work … you’re innovative and looking for a values-driven, positive culture and environment In this position you will have the opportunity to: Budget and forecast costs and volumes of raw materials Hire, train, and manage performance of staff Negotiate and supervise various contracts including logging, road construction, and transportation Appraise and negotiate or bid private and government timber sale purchases Monitor and report accomplishments and compare to budgets/goals Ensure delivery of raw materials to mills meeting quality, quantity, and cost objectives Provide timely information and participation in Mill Business Team decisions Provide leadership to less experienced Resource Managers Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations Perform other duties as necessary Sales and marketing of wood residuals

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge of company products
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • In-depth knowledge of general forestry principles and skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Knowledge of contracts and environmental regulations
  • Basic computer skills (Preferred proficiency in Microsoft suite especially Excel)
  • Driver’s license required
  • Basic understanding of wood scaling and wood specifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or equivalent experience
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • 7 years forestry experience
  • Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred proficiency in Microsoft suite especially Excel
  • Preferred min 5+ years of forestry procurement experience
