Job Summary Surry Power Station is looking for a Manager Nuclear Engineering Design & Programs. As the Design Authority for the nuclear station, this position directs the design engineering supervisors and technical resources (mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation and control, and cyber security) to implement plant modifications and maintain the design basis in accordance with company and industry standards. Key responsibilities include: Developing high-quality products such as engineering changes, analyses, drawing updates, procurement specifications, 10CFR 50.59 products, and engineering studies that comply with station design basis and licensing basis requirements. Developing and implementing plans to improve and maintain the design basis infrastructure for the nuclear power plants. Collaborates with station licensing on changes to the design basis. Reviewing, scoping, and scheduling new work requests with input from system engineering. Interfacing with Plant Health Working Group and Plant Health Steering Committee to review and approve requests for engineering assistance and to set plant modification priorities. Interfacing effectively on priorities and milestone adherence with stakeholder departments, especially Nuclear Projects. Reviewing and adjusting implementation of station improvement plans to ensure strategic alignment between current and future design products. Preparing, monitoring, and approving budgets for the Design Engineering department. Maintains responsibility for ensuring the quality, cost, financial accounting, and schedule of all products produced by the Design Engineering teams, vendors, and contractors, to meet fleet governance.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience with nuclear power plant design and operations
  • Proven leadership experience with engineering design or projects organizations. Second level engineering management experience is preferred
  • Extensive experience in applying the nuclear industry Standard Design Process
  • Comprehensive understanding of 10CFR 50.59 and how it applies to evaluating changes to an operating nuclear plant license
  • Strong knowledge of power plant operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize and manage human resources
  • Baccalaureate in engineering or related science.
  • Related experience which shall include 4 yrs
  • Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr
  • Supervisory or Management experience to include 1 yr.
