About The Position

This benchmark is intended to be used by companies that have generic classifications engaged in research and/or product development encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical. Must Have Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program. Candidates for this position will manage/lead engineers responsible for identifying the equipment and processes necessary to defuel & refuel a FORD-class aircraft carrier. The candidate’s group will ensure adherence to established regulatory and functional requirements of new facilities to support FORD-class refuelings. The candidate will also manage/lead engineers responsible for developing shipyard furnished equipment, processes and radiological controls to perform reactor maintenance for FORD-class carriers. Will also interface with reactor prime contractor management to ensure program alignment in support of government commitments concerning head-area maintenance. The optimal candidate should have a good understanding of naval nuclear propulsion program (NNPP) tenets including overarching requirements and approach to radiological control and exhibit effective management of long range planning efforts. The optimal candidate would also understand the importance of accuracy and completed staff work in technical procedures and correspondences, while also being open to innovative ideas beyond traditional Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program processes and equipment.

Requirements
