The Director of Perfusion Services at Mass General Brigham is a key leadership role within the Heart and Vascular Institute, responsible for overseeing all perfusion-related clinical operations, education, and research across the Mass General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. This position requires a visionary leader who will collaborate with surgical and cardiology leadership to ensure excellence in patient care, innovation in perfusion technologies, and the development of future leaders in the field. Under the direction of the Chief of Cardiac Surgery and the Senior Administrative Director, the Director of Perfusion Services leads the administrative, technical, and operational functions of the department. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and hospital regulations, oversees accreditation, staffing, training, and daily operations, and maintains high standards of patient care and safety. The Director must be well-versed in Joint Commission and HIPAA standards, exercise sound judgment in prioritizing tasks, and ensure adequate resources to support clinical needs. They provide leadership to the perfusion team, operate extracorporeal circulation equipment during procedures, and manage the administration of blood products and solutions. The role emphasizes efficient use of personnel and resources while fostering professional development and a quality-driven, patient-centered environment. This role may expand over time to include other sites or affiliations that utilize MGB perfusion services in the future.
