About The Position

Provides daily supervision to the lab technical staff and coordinates the daily specimen collection and testing operations. Is responsible for the department schedule and review of quality control. Is responsible for ensuring that instruments are properly maintained, and that new and current staff are oriented to lab policies and procedures. Working in cooperation with the Lab Manager ensures regulatory compliance. Serves as the technical safety representative for the laboratory department, serves on the safety committee, ensures compliance with safety regulations within the department. Performs in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures. Follows the facility's standards for ethical business conduct. Conducts self as a positive role model and team member. Research customer complaints and processing errors and take corrective action as needed Provide testing duties at the Faunce Corner Rd laboratory. Maintain instrumentation including daily weekly &monthly maintenance as well as troubleshooting instrument problems. Review quality control and maintain quality assurance including instrument linearity, precision and correlation studies Phlebotomy back up as needed. Process and procedure development for the Faunce Corner Road laboratory and site. Train new lab employees for this location. Maintains patient confidentiality Other duties as assigned Reports directly to the laboratory manager. Laboratory Safety Representative Reviews and maintains MSDS sheets which relate to the laboratory Identifies safety and health issues within the department and implements plan of correction when needed Maintains compliance with OSHA regulations within the lab Implements new regulations relating to health and safety within the lab Establishes any needed safety procedures for the department and maintains required safety records. Maintains a current working knowledge of health and safety issues which apply to the laboratory as defined by national and state safety and health regulations. Serves as a member of the Health and Safety Committee. Provides technical support on lab related safety and health issues such as exposure incidents Participates in new product / process review including hazard analysis for the lab. Other lab related safety duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 4 years of clinical laboratory experience in all areas to be supervised and a working knowledge of Federal and State occupational and safety regulations as they apply to the laborator Ability to coordinate a productive technical team in order to maximize the efficient operations of the testing laboratory. Ability to deal with other people, especially other company personnel, to troubleshoot lab related issues and concerns.
