Lead or support improvement teams via kaizen events and/or projects to develop the new improved business process, support and/or prepare the applicable justification, and implement the improvement. Guide, direct and supervise Lean and CI personnel that report directly to this position on all phases of their lean initiatives. Demonstrate cross-functional project management skills by involving other business functional groups as required during the development and implementation of the project. Transfer all applicable Lean tools as required for each improvement project. Also help develop the ongoing improvement efforts that will become a part of the operational culture after a successful Lean implementation. Assist in building team skills during the Lean implementation process. Involve all necessary functions in developing solutions and implementing them for the betterment of the company. Assign tasks to team members that will improve the process as well as develop them professionally. Contribute to short term and long-term plans that drive to operational improvement. Support manufacturing initiatives on practices that require consistency across operations. Lead improvement projects and support the development of strategic and capital plans. Review production problems as they are identified and implement solutions. Develop, implement, and update documentation and training. Contribute to initiatives by other plant functions such as quality, safety, environment, production control, etc., to improve operations. Develop reports, project briefings and management presentations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or a two-year degree along with five years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing environment or with no degree ten years’ relevant experience.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills amongst shop floor, support staff, and plant leadership.
  • Must be able to lead and execute small/large teams and projects.
  • Requires good organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to train others.
  • Occasional travel and overnight stays (0-5%)

Nice To Haves

  • Technical skills and training such as CAD layout, simulation, problem solving, and training are desired.
