About The Position

Position Summary: Improve profitability and management decision-making capabilities through advanced industrial engineering practices. This will include presentation and consultation work on complex projects throughout the Division. Assist or direct management during the startup phase of projects. Project development will rely on partnerships with multiple departments and the use of advanced industrial engineering practices to affect management decisions on facilities, business expansions or consolidations as well as the development and installation of new or improved operational controls. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire division in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1ststrategy. Requirements

  • Experience in food processing and distribution.
  • Extensive production background.
  • Analytical proficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency and breadth of experience in Industrial Engineering technology and application.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel independently.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize industrial engineering techniques to produce tangible results.
  • Lead teams with line authority to get action on complex projects.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor reporting systems to measure line utilization, labor efficiency and productivity, and material control.
  • Conduct feasibility studies of varied projects to determine the worth of an investment and provide justification for capital appropriations.
  • Develop and implement plant direct labor standards for costing, manning, and evaluate performance.
  • Identify problems and develop improvements to production, packaging material usage, and methods of operations.
  • Assist Manager of Plant Services to bring projects to a timely and cost efficient conclusion.
  • Develop and analyze systems and methods to provide low cost transportation services.
  • Develop and coordinate contract agreements for equipment or services in Manufacturing and Distribution Services.
  • Stay abreast of the Food Processing and Packaging Industry and state-of-the-art technologies.
  • Identify, and develop project solutions for minimizing total operational costs.
  • Present and sell recommendations to all levels of management.
  • Act as department liaison to Manufacturing facilities, staff, and Vice President of Manufacturing Engineering and Plant Services.
  • Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
  • Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
