The Role: Our Rockrimmon site in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Metrology Technician to support dimensional metrology, inline vision inspection/molding support, and contamination/VOC monitoring. This role partners with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customer Quality to maintain measurement capability, qualify equipment and processes, and ensure compliant documentation and records.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED with 2–4 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, metrology, laboratory, or contamination monitoring; or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
  • Knowledge of measurement and inspection methods (e.g., gage use, vision inspection, CMM fundamentals) with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with equipment qualification, calibration systems, and documentation in a quality management environment (ISO experience preferred).
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office) and ability to learn manufacturing/quality systems (e.g., Critical Manufacturing MES, camLine SPC, Ignition SCADA, SampleManager LIMS).
  • Strong documentation and communication skills; able to work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
  • Able to prioritize, troubleshoot, and work independently in a production environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with CMM/CT systems and related software (e.g., Hexagon PC-DMIS, Zeiss inspection software) and/or vision systems (e.g., Keyence/VS Creator).
  • Experience with contamination monitoring (APC/LPC, VOC monitors such as PID/FID) and basic trending/analysis of results.
  • Experience supporting DRB/MRB, performing process audits, and training others on inspection methods or equipment use.

Responsibilities

  • Support dimensional metrology for rework, investigations, and engineering measurements using hand tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and CMM/CT equipment.
  • Support molding/production teams with inline vision inspection through manual inspection, investigation, and basic troubleshooting of vision systems (e.g., Keyence).
  • Operate VOC/contamination monitoring systems, perform routine checks, trend results, and support investigations.
  • Prepare analytical lab samples and perform ISO 5 environmental measurements (e.g., LPC/APC) per site procedures and customer requirements.
  • Qualify equipment and support new/updated process documentation for deployment to COS (work instructions, control plans, and traceable records).
  • Serve as the Quality voice on DRB/MRB activities, supporting disposition, containment, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Support calibration for applicable equipment and gages and maintain accurate calibration and usage records.
  • Review, validate, and/or create Certificates of Analysis (CoA) for finished products as required.
