About The Position

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Methods and Procedures Advisor 2. Under direction, performs complex technical, research and advisory functions relative to communicable disease surveillance. This position will assist in the development and implementation of TB surveillance tools and web-page design/maintenance.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with courses in public administration, accounting, industrial relations, prelegal or personnel management.
  • Requires two (2) years professional experience in public administration, business management or accounting.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties.
  • Requires a valid Driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience with database management systems.
  • Two (2) years’ experience with spreadsheet software (e.g. Microsoft Excel, smartsheet).
  • One (1) year experience working with local health authorities.
  • Two (2) years’ experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting data for reports.
  • One (1) year experience providing technical assistance on data entry systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex technical, research and advisory functions relative to communicable disease surveillance.
  • Prepares annual and quarterly reports for TB Control Program.
  • Develops and maintains the written procedures for the collection, analysis and reporting of communicable disease cases.
  • Coordinates, implements, and oversees the transfer and assimilation of communicable disease data from local health departments and local TB control authorities to the Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
  • Coordinates with other TB nurses/Program manager to conduct and participate in maintaining the TB 101 module.
  • Works with the surveillance specialist and epidemiologist in managing the various TB databases and applications to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
