Meter Service Worker
About The Position
JOB SUMMARY: Under general direction completes daily work orders related to meter services including installation, termination, lock-outs, repairs and resolving problems in the field. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Ability to turn on water service for new customers, turn off service for closed or delinquent accounts and record meter readings for final billings in assigned territory. 2. Ability to respond to emergency calls for assistance; investigate customer complaints related to pressure/flow, leaks or high consumption. 3. Ability to replace defective meters and control valves, leaking gaskets, damaged boxes and lids at the metering site. 4. Ability to assist on large meter crew performing maintenance on meters sized 3" to 10". OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: 5. Ability to perform scheduled change-outs of aged or malfunctioning meters, 3/4" and 1" in size. 6. Ability to assist Meter Reading in facilitating safe access to metering sites by repairing reported defects and clearing impediments at the metering site.
